I woke on Friday to find thick snow had fallen. It was an icy cold morning. The wind fierce, the vision before me a carpet of pristine snow. The roof icy white and gleaming. The bare trees covered in heavy clumps of snow. The gutters and window ledges hung with clear icicles…

Yesterday, my small paved garden, had a layer of solid ice under the blanket of snow. I chopped and hacked to create a pathway to the bird feeders. It was tough work.

Later, I rewarded myself with freshly buttered scones and a pot of hot steaming coffee. I settled into my cosy haven for the weekend. Yet I felt unsettled…

Today after rain in the night, the snow has mysteriously disappeared. As if it never was. Traces of ice on my property are scattered around in small blocks. My body aches from yesterdays efforts to clear snow and ice but, today is bright. A fresh start awaits…

I FEEL: Timeless.

For months, in between completing my first book, I have been deep in thought on perhaps too many matters…spiritual, scientific, political, historic, personal – but mostly about the people, the animals and our environment.
Yet, I have felt far away from people and places. At a distance.

I have sensed both heaviness and light…as life shifts and weaves, moves, heaves and turns…the road falters, then alters course. We try to reverse but too late, onward we go. Are we on the right road, or, on a road to nowhere, I ask myself…

Life is full of unexpected surprises right now. Often they are a shock to us. Surely our main responsibility is to care of ourselves first! Or we could be at risk of burn-out at this time of fast paced living and change. Find balance and keep that balance. It is essential to every aspect of our survival.

I know many are dealing with insomnia, tension, sinus, tinnitus, headaches, feeling unsettled, even living on auto pilot. I have had to rearrange my daily routine to accommodate the strange sleep patterns I am having. I am going with it.

I understand that we are transforming ourselves on every possible level, and the transition from the ‘old’ to the ‘new’ is a daunting, often overwhelming process. Even if we have no idea what that means yet…

Our Unfamiliar World…

I spent most of 2017 writing my first book. Its not the long awaited book on Colour Therapy, or healing modalities, or of spiritual wisdom that I have gained over too many years to mention…it is about my childhood in Africa, which was most unusual, to say the least. For the final three months I was very ill with pneumonia.

For that reason I have spent little time writing my Blog on WordPress. I once did so, almost daily. I also stopped writing my 7-page bi-monthly Newsletter last year, after 10 years.

I am working through the proof-reading and correcting of my first book draft. I have gone beyond the 82,000words/290 pages I anticipated would be ‘the end’ – as more insights and memories came to me. The proof reading is a time consuming task…

It has been an interesting, cathartic, joyful, amusing and often grippingly painful process, writing about my childhood. But I have no regrets about beginning the project. Now all I need is sound advise from an editor and of course, a publisher.

I have new plans and ideas for this year, but I firstly wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for their loyal support, kindness and encouragement through the years.
I know many of my long time followers, were deeply disappointed when I stopped the Newsletter, but the time felt right.

May this Year 2018 – offer you all that you have dreamed of and all that you most need.

I have had several challenging nights, with little sleep. Feeling unsettled, restless…yet filled with new ideas, brain storming, recharged and inspired.

BODY: In need of more sleep.

I know that right now few of us recognise our outside world. And for now, and in months to come, it may not look or sound anything like you imagined it to be. Its not what you dreamed, Its not what you imagined.
Let me tell you that your dream will come – but for now accept that our world is dismantling the old systems and all that it carried. Any signs of fear, discord even violence, need to be seen as part of a huge cleansing.

I believe life on Earth has a complex agenda, often so intricate that the human mind can not grasp what is happening. We need to trust and know that on a very deep soul level we understand that we are safe…

The final days of 2017 are leading us to a new year…2018 (=11) approach us rapidly now! Many changes have occurred this year. Many events experienced. We have each done well to get this far!

Now, keep your loved ones close, your home filled with love, your health stable. Eat from reliable sources. Drink more water and ensure that it is pure, charged with good vibrations.

Allow your sleep to be ‘broken’ if that is how it is, use the waking time wisely and your sleep hours to rest and recoup. Embrace your life in this coming new year, appreciate all that it is. Expand your consciousness to encompass and embrace a new future…

I feel joyous to be here, enriched by each and every challenging experience that 2017 presented me with.
I bow to the Grand Plan and its complexities, its sheer brilliance. I bow in total devotion and surrender to the Creator and the majesty the magnificence of this planet.

There are no need for more words, no need for arguments, no confirmation, no dramas. There is only a field of DIVINE LOVE, where all words come to pass into nothingness. It’s a ‘place’ where truth speaks on its own.

TODAY: Grey, dull, unsheltered, cold. Winter in all her glory.
I woke to a very icy morning. The world was carpeted in thin ice. The roof white and gleaming. The bare trees covered in little frosty icicles. There was early damp mist. I put the kettle on…

ONE WORD: Acceptance – of the ‘such-ness’ of life

I find myself holding back and observing. Saying less but feeling more. Being more of who I am. Surrendering to ‘just being’ and allowing life to unfold around me. There are synchronicities, insights, clearer understanding, along with minor irritations at the things I do not yet understand or accept, as my truth. Discernment required.

The writing of my book based on my extraordinary childhood in Africa, is complete. I am busy with proofreading and re-writing sections, preparing for professional editing.


And though we seem to be sleeping,

there is an inner wakefulness that directs the dream,

that will eventually startle us back to the Truth of who we are.


Slow and lethargic interspersed with vibrant upbeat inquisitive energy.
Taking time to do ‘no-thing.’ No longer fighting it. This too shall pass…It’s similar to rebooting a computer. A need to shut down for brief periods of time, in order to load new software.

I know, I understand, I accept, I honour, I see, I hear, I ponder…
I believe in Divine Timing and feel that All That Is knows exactly what’s coming next. Perhaps a time to sit quietly and reflect, or simply rest a while…before a new year begins.

I trust that we are all doing the best we can at this point in time, with what we know and understand to be truth. As we look around at our world and the greater world ‘out there’ it certainly seems to be in chaos, but I do believe that all of the old ways must break away before we will be able to rebuild our world. This was been said since ancient times.

The balance of power will be restored, negative and positive will finally align on planet earth. Not today, or tomorrow, but slowly and surely. I do believe it will…

I am thankful that I share this planet with you. Like minds make us feel less lonely.

The Silent Eye

Paper poppies bloom, as fragile as the lives they represent. Every year it is the same, I try to find some way of saying what is in my heart and the words will not come.  I was not there, I have no right to speak of war and its atrocities. I have not seen it with my own eyes. I have never aimed a gun at another human being and been faced with the choice whether to kill or be killed. I have not tried to sleep in cold mud made from the earth of a foreign land mingled with the blood of my comrades. I have not lost my child to war.

Simple advice for mental health: pause and notice


There is often a harmony between ancient stories and modern psychology. Yesterday’s reading in the Catholic liturgy reminded us to “stay awake“. When the Buddha started to teach, he met some who,  recognizing something special in him, asked: “Are you a god?” He simply replied: “I am awake.”

So…. staying aware of what is around us, pausing and noticing –  not taking small things too seriously or getting submerged in the worries of this Monday –  seems to be related to psychological health.

Goethe gives us a simple practical way :

A man should hear a little music,

read a little poetry,

and see a fine picture every day of his life,

in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful

which God has implanted in the human soul.
